Escaping Ike

Just wanted to give a quick update on Sandra & Neal. They thankfully escaped Ike last week by taking a very long weekend trip to Neal's cousins in Dallas (about 4 hours away). It is great that he has family so close.

They returned to Houston last night after finding out from a neighbor that they are one of the few in town who actually have power again. Sandra said the town is a still a big mess with debris everywhere, trees and power lines are down, and windows are blown out. Luckily once they got back to their apartment they only had minor damage to a fence in back, and some screens had blown away, however, the other side of the street had tarps on the roof and massive water damage. She seems to have built up a tolerance to seeing all of this after living through several hurricanes in Florida.

Sandra is back at work today and said even with all the damage that peoples spirits are high. We're so happy you both are safe and are saying a prayer for everyone affected that things will be back to normal soon!
