After returning on Tuesday from a whirlwind trip to the Midwest; Friday, I left again, this time heading to Houston to visit my sister, Sandra. She is due on November 7th, so now she has about 3 weeks to go! That was the first time I have seen her since she found out she was pregnant. She looks even better in person than I could have imagined! It is so much more real after seeing her that I will soon be an aunt, and I can't wait to meet my baby niece at Christmas!
Here is the cool new Graco swing that I brought for them, and Neal put together. (So conveniently placed right next to the wine fridge! ;)

Here is the matching Graco Pack N Play, that Neal also put together.

Sandra modeling the Graco monitor. It's smaller than an ipod.
Dinner on Friday night was an easy choice since we are both obsessed with Mexican, we don't even have to discuss where we are going! She had already chosen a newer place that they had been to 1 other time, and it did not disappoint!
In between feeling the little one kick like crazy all weekend (i think it was because she knew I was there and really wanted to meet me!), we managed to do some shopping and run tons of errands on Saturday that Sandra had been wanting to do for all the last minute items. And since she was in her "nesting" mode, I talked her into doing some projects, which I was more than happy to help with! :) But since they will give away the name of the baby, I can only show you a sneak peek!
Here is a pin up board that we decorated to go in her office area to keep track of baby things....dr. appointments, photos, sleeping & eating schedules, etc.. We also put up wooden letters across the bottom with the babys name, but I don't want to give it away.

Next project was making letters to hang on the wall. I couldn't believe how expensive they were at a baby store. Lucky for Sandra, I was there! I told her we could make some that were just as cute, and would cost way less. She was skeptical, but after a trip to Michael's, I think was started to believe it. First I spray painted all the letters a chocolate brown color. Then, we added ribbons in varying lengths with bows at the top. Sneak peek at 1 letter, and all the ribbons.

For 8 months pregnant, I couldn't believe how much energy she had.....I think I was more tired than her by the end of the day! While us girls went out shopping all day, Neal stayed home and put together the pack and play and the swing that I brought them. I can't imagine anything else that they need! The baby girl will have it all! Then he made a yummy chicken parm dinner for us! It was awesome!
Sunday we drove down to Galveston (about an hour from them) to check out the recovery from last year's hurricane, Ike. It was great to see a few homes fixed up, but so sad to still see so much destruction. It will take years to build things back, and that is only in the areas where they will be allowed to build again. Many of them will never be allowed to build again. We did have an awesome seafood lunch at a place right on the coast that wasn't even touched by Ike!
It was so nice to have a quiet but busy visit with Sandra and Neal before their lives are changed forever when they become parents! I CANNOT WAIT to meet and spoil Baby Salerno at Christmas time!! Don't worry, I'm post a pic, name, and stats as soon as she arrives!
