Happy 4th of July!

Hope everyone had a great 4th! Since it was our 2nd fourth of July at the lake, we decided that this would get down to business this year. We had 4 other couples over for a fun day on the lake, came back to our house for an amazing cookout, and went back on the lake to watch the fireworks. Geoff was in charge of the grilling, while I fixed some sides, and set the table. We spent the morning cutting veggies for the kabobs (we cut the meat the night before so that it could marinate), I also got the table ready before everyone got there so we didn't have to worry about it when we came off the lake. Here is the table. (in case you can't tell, I was kind of proud of it!)

table for 10

Everyone brought some delicious sides to share, and here are the amazing kabobs that we made with chicken, beef, tomatoes, onions, red, yellow, and green peppers! I'm so glad we have some left for dinner tonight!

No, these aren't sparklers, they are the red velvet cake pops, with white chocalate drops and red & blue sprinkles on top! YUM!! (I got this idea from the Bakerella blog, and modified it a bit for the 4th! They aren't as pretty as hers, but afterall, it was my first try.....and at least they still tasted great!)

Good friends, good weather, good food, good fireworks, and good times were had by all! It couldn't have been a better day.....I give it 5 stars! I can't wait until next year! Do we really have to go back to work tomorrow?
