Also known as Charlotte Restaurant Week, ended July 19th. Instead of trying a fancy new place, we opted for Melting Pot, an old favorite that we haven't been to in over 6 months. The only reservation we could get was at 4:30 on Saturday afternoon, but we were shocked when we arrived to see it was already packed. This ended up being a perfect time to eat since we starved ourselves all day, we were really hungry by then.
They featured a 4-course meal (similar to the "Big Night Out" for those of you that have been there) for $30 per person, which we thought was a great deal! We were also able to bring our own bottle of wine (as long as they do not have it on their menu) for a small corking fee. We decided on a bottle of Ledson Sangiovese from our recent trip to Sonoma, and it was perfect.
We chose the new cheese feature called Quattro Formaggio, and it was the definitely the best cheese fondue we have ever had! I hope they keep this one on the menu. It was fontina, gruyere, and gran queso blended with garlic, basil & tomato pesto, and tiny cubes of mozzarella.
Next up the California salad, then all the meats, chicken, shrimp, scallops, and veggies. Not only was everything seasoned to perfection, they also had the usual selection of wonderful dipping sauces. After the main course, we (I mean "I") chose the feature chocolate fondue...Milk Chocolate Tiramisu. I hate to say it again, but this was probably my favorite chocolate fondue ever! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Maybe it's because we haven't been there in so long, but the whole meal and experience were better than I remembered! Even though we were stuffed beyond belief, I think we could probably go back and do it again next weekend! (Although we definitely won't being that it is still swimsuit season and all!)
