After replacing my kitchen cabinet hardware, painting Carrie's Guest Room in April, and having a book club event, we were ready to move on to our next Get It done Girls Club......having a yard sale at Renee's (in May). I know, I haven't posted in a long time, so this is very old info. Renee really wanted to have a yard sale, but didn't want to do it by herself, so she decided to make it the GIG event. She definitely has the best neighborhood for it, and I think it was a great success! We met a few days before to make signs, bring our stuff down to her place, trade some of our nicer items since there were things of each other that we each wanted, figure out where the tables and hanging racks would go, and to plan the after yard sale cookout. We sold most of the good stuff early that morning, and as we were packing up the remaining items to give to goodwill, a few cars stopped by to took EVERYTHING. They did get a great deal since there were so many really nice things left, but it also saved us the trouble of having to load up our cars and haul the things to goodwill ourselves. Hopefully we can make this a yearly event since Renee likes to change her decor so much, I think I can get some good stuff!!
Our June event at Amanda's was postponed to July due to schedule conflicts. As she looked around the house, she couldn't think of a good project to do, but saw that her cork collection had grown pretty massively! After MANY trips to California, NC wineries, and Rag Apple Lassie (Amanda's grandparents winery), she had hundreds of corks. So, we decided to get all of our corks together and do a cork project. This is the perfect GIG event because we all have piles of corks, but will never get around to making anything out of them. I made this trivet for my mom (with some of the corks from their 4th of July trip).

I also made this cool chalkboard with corks all around the outside of it (this is being used to block the side of the fridge that we recently moved to our porch.)

Here are a few of the other projects that people did.
Amanda made a cute couple of frames:
The other Amanda made a corkboard for the kitchen.
She also accidentally glued a cork to her blackberry! ha ha

Renee is making art to hang on the wall.
I really am glad that we started this club, and I can't wait until it is my turn again!!! So fun!
