Week 2 - Inspections, Sheetrock, Ceilings and Hardwoods

We passed the electrical inspections on Monday, so they were able to finish sheet rocking the walls on Tuesday.

Here is an updated pic of the powder room:

Mudding the opening.

While they were mudding on Wednesday, the painter came out to work on the kitchen ceiling. We used to have a textured treatment, but now it will be smooth to match the living room.

Here is the ceiling after the 1st day....after sanding, filling in holes and 1 coat of spackle.

Wednesday brought on major dust! They started sanding all the walls, and the ceiling. The dust is everywhere! Thursday, while the painter was working away on the second coat of spackle, the other guys were able to install the hardwood floors in the back hallway.

Since you can now see it from the living room, we didn't want the blue carpet to show, so we had them install the same hardwoods that are in our living room. It is only about 30 sq feet, but not seeing the blue carpet anymore is really nice! Makes us wish the hardwoods were everywhere!

Friday, they actually cleaned up a lot of stuff, dusted our house, and vacuumed! I am serious, Karen is great! It was so much better to have the house a lot cleaner for the weekend.

Here is the updated pic of the almost finished ceiling.....all that's left is paint.

Lastly, on Friday, they also started working on the layout of the pantry so we could make sure the spacing was right before they cut the shelves. The whole bottom left section we are still trying to figure out....we know that there will be a counter over that section, and space for Jasper's food underneath!

They should be able to start painting on Monday, they will also keep working on the closet shelves, and after that, they will begin the kitchen floor tile! Should be a great week!
